How should the pickup sound? – Well – A pickup itself can´t sound no matter how complicated its structure may be, as Helmuth Lemme, a Munich “pickup guru” – electronics engineer, musician and author – never tires of emphasizing. The pickup as a sound transmitter on solid stringed instruments isn´t just one of many cogs for the specific sound of an instrument, but it´s the most important one – wood doesn´t count (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzPVxL7nIl8). – And there´s NO VOODOO!!
Who doesn’t know the whirring sound – sometimes louder than the expected pure sound – that drives one crazy! Poorly shielded pickups might be responsible for this – this nerve-wracking situation is unlikely to occur with BASSREFINER PICKUPS.
These are hand-wound, elaborately shielded (copper foil soldered to ground) and epoxed dual-coil humbuckers with matched magnets, either in Music Man (MM), J-Bass, P-Bass or soapbar style.
In contrast to established manufacturers, this characterization of the Bassrefiner pickups does not require pages of esoteric stuff which is very enjoyable to read in Lemmes book „Pickups, Potis & Co“ or to hear in Manfred Zollners „bullshit“-videos on his youtube-channel „Physik der Elektrogitarre“.
